CDP Segment FAQs

3min

Introduction

Segment is a data platform (CDP), that helps you collect, clean, and control your customer data. It enables you to unify customer data from every customer touchpoint, and empowers marketing, sales, and customer service leaders with the insights they need to design and build relevant, data-driven customer engagement.

Replaying Facebook Data

If there is a break in data, Facebook replays can be implemented for a maximum of 7 days of historical data. Facebook's event_time can be up to 7 days before you send an event to Facebook. If any event_time in data is greater than 7 days in the past, Facebook will return an error for the entire request and not process the event.

This is a FB limitation and not a Segment one, as their API would reject any event older than 7 days.

TikTok - Creating a Destination

How to implement:

Chord's customer success engineers will help turn this on in Segment. There are a few steps that will need to be done by your Ads Manager account owner.

1. Create a pixel object in Ads Manager, select ‘Manually install pixel code’ and ‘Developer Mode.’

2. Once the pixel is created, select ‘Settings.’

3. Select 'Generate access token'

4. Send the **Access token (this is a string of lower case letters) as well as the User ID **(this should be a string of letters in the upper left hand side of the above screen) to help@chord.co with the subject line: Adding TikTok as a Destination.

5. We will implement the Access token and User ID in Segment and confirm that action events are flowing through.
