Chord can identify anonymous website visitors and bring them into your retargeting campaigns, so you reach more shoppers without changing how your campaigns already work.

Today, your retargeting campaigns (Cart Abandonment, Product Abandonment, and Price Drop) only reach shoppers who logged in or gave you their email. Everyone else, even shoppers who browsed products and left, was invisible to those campaigns.

Chord Reveal can match many of those anonymous visitors to a real email address using trusted third-party data. Once matched, those shoppers are automatically added to the same retargeting campaigns you already run.

More of your website visitors become instantly reachable. Your existing campaign rules, timing, and suppression logic do not change.

# How it works

Reveal adds one new step before your campaigns run. Here is the flow:

1. A shopper browses your site anonymously and doesn't log in or submit an email.
2. Reveal attempts to match that visitor to a real email address using third-party identity data.
3. If a match is found, Chord checks whether that email already exists in your CRM.
4. If the email is new to your CRM, the shopper is labeled reveal.
 1. If it already exists, they're treated the same as any other known shopper.
5. The shopper (with their new label) flows into your existing Cart Abandonment, Product Abandonment, or Price Drop campaign, exactly like any other eligible shopper.

Nothing about your campaign rules, send timing, or suppression lists changes. Reveal only adds new shoppers to the pool who were previously excluded.

# The new "source" label

Every shopper entering these campaigns now carries a label showing how they were identified:

- **Existing:** A shopper you already knew, through login or a submitted email.
- **Reveal:** A shopper newly identified through Reveal, who wasn't in your CRM before.

This label is available in your CRM, so you can see it, filter by it, and act on it. It doesn't change who receives a campaign; **it just tells you where each contact came from.**

You can also ask Ask Chord for these counts directly, broken out by abandonment stage: how many people in a cart or checkout abandonment audience are reachable only because Reveal supplied their email. See [Building abandonment audiences with Ask Chord](docId\:RTCgtU26XJTiT9_fOZdeM).

# What you can do with this

Using the new source label is **optional**. If you do nothing, Reveal-identified shoppers simply flow into your existing campaigns like anyone else.

If you want more control, you can:

- Build separate segments for Reveal shoppers vs. everyone else, to compare how each group responds.
- Customize messaging, for example a softer, more introductory tone for Reveal shoppers who haven't heard from your brand before.
- Adjust send frequency for Reveal shoppers if you want a lighter touch while you build trust with them.
- Measure incremental impact, since the label makes it possible to isolate revenue and engagement that Reveal alone made possible.

# What we need from you

Before Reveal-identified shoppers can receive messages, your team should:

1. Confirm your CRM is set up to create a contact profile from an email address alone (Reveal-matched shoppers won't always have a full customer ID).
2. Confirm there are no filters in place that would block new profiles that lack that customer ID.
3. Make sure Chord Reveal is enabled on your account. Retargeting can only reach these newly identified shoppers if Reveal is turned on.

Everything else is optional. Segmenting, custom messaging, and frequency changes can be added later, whenever it's useful to you.

# What to expect

Reveal is designed to unlock reach and revenue you were previously missing, without adding risk to what's already working:

- Previously invisible, high-intent shoppers become reachable.
- Your retargeting audience grows.
- You gain a way to measure the incremental lift Reveal drives.

# Good to know

- Reveal currently matches U.S. visitors only. Shoppers outside the U.S. aren't affected and continue to be handled exactly as they are today.
- This is an additive change. No existing campaign logic, audience, or suppression rule is being modified or replaced.
- To see current abandonment audience sizes, and how many are reachable because of Reveal, ask Ask Chord or see [Building abandonment audiences with Ask Chord](docId\:RTCgtU26XJTiT9_fOZdeM).
