Modifying a Dashboard

Introduction

In this article, we will show you how to modify an existing Dashboard to add custom filters. The document is focusing on standard dashboard filters

The default timezone in Looker for OMS timestamps is UTC, whereas the OMS UI displays EST.

Within Looker, we've added additional timezone options for some of our timestamps but not for Order Approved Date. Custom time zones can be created with a custom field and can be submitted as a feature request.

A great introduction to Looker and all its features is offered in Google Cloud Skills Boost. It is worth a visit!

Editing dashboard filters

To add or modify filters to a dashboard we suggest first making a copy of the report you want to modify and editing the filters on the newly copied one

To make permanent changes to filters that all users will see, or to add or delete filters, you must have the Manage Access, and Edit access level for the dashboard and be in edit mode.

In this example, we will make a copy of the dashboard and then add new order tag filters

Navigate to My Folders

If you select a field that is already being used by another filter, Looker will alert you. While you can still create the filter, you cannot apply multiple filters that use the same field to the same dashboard tile.
