Timestamp differences between Looker and Shopify
Introduction
The default timezone in Looker for OMS timestamps is UTC, whereas the OMS UI displays EST.
Within Looker, we've added additional timezone options for some of our timestamps but not for Order Approved Date. Custom time zones can be created with a custom field and can be submitted as a feature request.
Shopify uses the last edited_at timestamp in reporting if the order was edited whereas Chord's models use the timestamp of order fulfillment.
This means edited orders show in February in Shopify because it was edited in February but the order was *placed *in January.
Yet, *unedited orders placed *in January, not edited, and not fulfilled until February, so Looker shows this in February but Shopify shows.
What counts as an edited order in Shopify?
Shopify Analytics If you edit an order after the day the order was placed, then the edit appears as a separate order in your reports. The reports display the edit as if it is a new order, even though a new order hasn't been created.
What reports in Looker will be impacted by this discrepancy?
Orders over time, Sales over time, Average order value over time.
